I Tried Rock Climbing With A 40LB Vest: A Fun and Challenging Experience

Rock climbing is already an exhilarating sport that requires strength, agility, and mental focus. But what happens when you take it up a notch and add a 40lb weight vest to the mix? That’s exactly what I decided to do when I visited Mesa Rim Rock Climbing, and let me tell you, it was an intense and unforgettable experience.

Challenging the Coaches

As a fitness enthusiast and the founder of THENX, an online fitness platform, I’m always looking for new ways to push my limits and challenge my body. So, when I visited Mesa Rim Rock Climbing and saw the impressive coaching team they had, I knew I had to put them to the test.

Wearing a 40lb weight vest, I approached the coaches and challenged them to guide me through some of the hardest routes in the climbing gym. They eagerly accepted the challenge, knowing that it would push both my physical and mental capabilities to the limit.

Increasing the Difficulty

Rock climbing is already a full-body workout that targets muscles in your arms, back, core, and legs. But adding the extra weight of a vest takes the challenge to a whole new level. Every move became more difficult as I had to use extra strength and stability to navigate through the routes.

The weight vest not only increased the resistance on my muscles but also made me more aware of my body positioning and balance. It required me to engage my core and maintain proper form throughout the climbs, which further challenged my endurance and control.

Building Strength and Endurance

Rock climbing with a weight vest is not only a physical challenge but also a mental one. As I climbed higher and faced difficult obstacles, I had to stay focused and mentally strong. The extra weight added an element of unpredictability, forcing me to strategize and adapt in real-time.

Not only did this experience test my physical and mental strength, but it also helped me build both. The added resistance from the weight vest forced my muscles to work harder and adapt to new demands. Over time, this can lead to increased strength and the ability to overcome more challenging climbs.

A Fun and Unique Workout

Despite the intense nature of climbing with a weight vest, it was also an incredibly fun and unique workout. The adrenaline rush and sense of accomplishment I felt when conquering each route were unlike any other workout I’ve experienced.

Rock climbing with a weight vest also offers variety and versatility in your fitness routine. It combines the benefits of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and mental focus. Plus, it’s a great way to switch up your regular workout routine and challenge yourself in new ways.

In Conclusion

My experience of rock climbing with a 40lb weight vest at Mesa Rim Rock Climbing was challenging, exhilarating, and unforgettable. It pushed my limits, tested my strength and endurance, and gave me a unique perspective on the sport.

If you’re a seasoned climber looking for a new challenge or someone looking to take their fitness journey to the next level, I highly recommend giving rock climbing with a weight vest a try. You’ll not only have a great time, but you’ll also build strength, increase endurance, and develop mental resilience.

So, what are you waiting for? Strap on that weight vest, grab your climbing shoes, and prepare for a thrilling adventure on the walls of your local climbing gym.

Definitely love to see you climbing more but I think you need to wait until you are comfortable doing top rope before you progress to lead.
