Rectus Abdomen: Crunch, Sit-up

To perform a crunch, lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Place your hands behind your head, and slowly lift your shoulders off the ground while engaging your core. Transverse: Plank, Dead Bug Commandos

To perform a plank, start in a push-up position and lower yourself onto your forearms. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels and hold this position for as long as you can. For the dead bug commandos, lie on your back with your arms extended towards the ceiling and legs bent at a 90-degree angle. Lower one arm and the opposite leg towards the ground while keeping your core engaged, then return to the starting position and switch sides.

Internal Obliques: Side Plank Dips
Moving on to the internal obliques, which are responsible for twisting and bending movements, we’ll target them with side plank dips. Start in a side plank position with your elbow directly under your shoulder and your body in a straight line. Lower your hips towards the ground and then raise them back up while maintaining a strong core and engaged obliques. Repeat this movement on both sides to work both sets of internal obliques.

External Obliques: Reverse Mountain Climbers
Finally, let’s target the external obliques, which are responsible for rotating and bending movements. Reverse mountain climbers are an effective exercise for engaging this area. Start in a high plank position and drive one knee towards the opposite elbow, then switch sides in a fluid and controlled manner. Keep your core engaged and maintain a steady breathing pattern throughout the movement to maximize the engagement of your external obliques.
