GainsByBrains, This is TOO Much?!

GainsByBrains, a popular fitness influencer, has recently shared her glute training routine, where she trains her glutes three times per week. While this may sound excessive to some, the question arises whether this frequency could potentially be damaging to the body. Let’s delve into the topic and explore different perspectives.

Training Frequency

Training frequency refers to how often one engages in a specific exercise or muscle group. It varies from person to person, depending on their goals, recovery capabilities, and overall fitness level. GainsByBrains, like many fitness enthusiasts, believes that training her glutes three times per week optimizes muscle growth and strength development.

However, it’s important to remember that individual differences play a significant role in determining the ideal training frequency. Some individuals may benefit from training their glutes multiple times a week, while others may need more rest and recovery time between sessions. It is crucial to listen to your body and adjust your training accordingly.

The Workout

GainsByBrains follows a structured glute training routine, focusing on specific exercises to target and strengthen her glutes. These exercises often include squats, deadlifts, lunges, hip thrusts, and glute bridges. By incorporating a variety of exercises, she ensures that she works her glutes from different angles and challenges her muscles in various ways.

It’s worth noting that the intensity and volume of the workout also play a significant role in determining the potential for damage. If someone were to excessively overload their glutes or perform exercises with improper form, it could increase the risk of injury. It is essential to prioritize proper technique and gradually progress in weight and difficulty to minimize the risk of harm.

Conclusion

Training your glutes three times per week, like GainsByBrains, can be an effective approach for some individuals, especially if their goal is to build muscle and strength in that specific area. However, it is crucial to consider individual differences, recovery abilities, and listen to your body’s cues.

Remember that everyone’s fitness journey is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. It’s essential to find a training frequency that works best for you and complements your overall goals and well-being.

Comment Question of the Week

To engage with the viewers and promote discussion, the video ends with a comment question of the week. Viewers are encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences on the topic, creating a sense of community and interaction.

Overall, GainsByBrains’ dedication to her glute training routine is admirable, but it is important to approach any fitness regimen with caution, considering individual differences and focusing on proper form and recovery. By listening to our bodies and finding a balance that works for us, we can optimize our workouts and achieve our fitness goals safely.

Remember, fitness is a journey, and it’s essential to enjoy the process and prioritize our overall health and well-being. Stay motivated, stay active, and embrace the gains!

Being honest here.. I've been in the mental hospital for 10 weeks and we had a gym there. It wasn't really big and we didn't have a lot of equipment.. BUT!

Bench press (idk how much the bar weighed, but I started with 10kg in total and went up to 15kg at the end)
Single lateral raises (I leaned against a wall so I could focus more on my arms/shoulders) – 3 kg each side
Bulgarian split squats 8 kg (I found my own way of doing them, because I have insane trouble doing them with my foot on the bench. I always look for something lower to rest my foot on, it may look like I'm doing it wrong, but I feel it so much in my booty, it's wild)

When it came to the last two exercises, I always did just 2 sets a 10 reps. With the bench press it just depended how much fun I have with it. But it varied between 2-4 sets a 10 reps.

2 times a week, sometimes only 1 time or none. But damn, I saw a difference at around 7 weeks. There was a time I looked into the mirror and I was surprised. I thought "My shoulders didn't always look like this, damn!" and my booty felt tighter. My fiance was surprised, esp when I flexed it, lol.

Before that I always thought I had to do more than I liked. The sheer thought of doing 4 sets of the same exercises was basically a torture, lmao. I used to hate bulgarian split squats, because of that (and my issue with the foot placement before) but now I love them. A few weeks after beign released I started to go to the gym again.. I have so much fun now that I go every 2 days.

I've also realised that my strength got better! Last year I could only do pull ups with 28-35kg resistance, now I only need 21kg resistance! I wonder when I'll be able to do a pull up with my entire body weight

So are you saying 21 sets overall as in 21 sets for each exercise or 21 sets spread out into different exercises…?

Just train how you want to train , people .What works for her may not work for you and that’s ok . I use to workout arms everyday and I got huge . But yet the gym bros bible say that working one muscle group everyday won’t grow 🤡🤡. We all have different genetics so do what works for you . Period

OK.I think people should exercise regularly but this is really exaggerated, weights are too heavy. Better focus on mental health, education. So whatever comes out for people 's moth sounds more intelligent. Most of these YouTube fitness influencers are just meat, no brain

It would be interesting to have you review Eugene Teo's method of training, for example he starts with unstable movements to kind of wake up the stability, and he goes from isolation to compound sometimes. It's very cool but I'm confused about what to do now😂

KVP_Fitness October 8, 2023 - 12:28 pm

Isn't there a study that shows that the effectiveness of your sets diminish after a certain number of sets? Let's say you do a bro split with 20 sets of chest. You will reach max effectiveness at about 10-12 sets in. After that the fatigue in your chest will cause other muscle groups to kick in to compensate for the loss of strength in the chest. So therefore it would be more interesting to split it up in 2 workouts of 10 sets each.
Or am I mistaken? 🤔

My training split and physique lately hasn’t been at its best, I only train 2-3 times a week doing PPL, but that is due to not getting enough sleep and a busy schedule. Will adding another day or two at the gym benefit me or no? I keep thinking that the rest right now is more valuable, yet don’t see the results to match

Heya Harry, just a bit of discussion on volume being "equated". At which point does psychology then become relevant? Eg. 27 sets on one day Vs 9, 12, and 6 on different days. Undoubtedly by set 21 I'm exhausted, I'm not pushing as hard. And on set 1 I know I have 26 sets ahead so I'm less willing to go to failure. In experiment conditions, did those persons have trainers making sure they pushed themselves, were their workouts being observed?

I personally am enjoying a 3 day lower body split currently but it's too early to tell how effective it is for hypertrophy. May need to drop back down to 2 days a week.

My question is could you maybe discuss nutrition when it comes to improving fitness/strength? I’m trying to get stronger and do the best to nourish my body and have even looked into protein supplements, but as someone who can’t do dairy and doesn’t want to eat as much meat I’m very lost in how I can improve ://

Do you have any advice for anyone working towards doing a pull-up?
I've been trying since September with very little progress… I've been consistent with my weight training routine for several years now, and I've built a lot of muscle, but I'm still not strong enough to do a pull-up and it's kind of hurting my self-confidence.
On top of my regular weight training routine, I've added assisted pull-ups, pull-up negatives, and inverted rows 3x week and I'm starting to feel really burnt out and discouraged. 🙁 I'm a very tall, long-limbed, bottom-heavy woman. I always assumed I never would be able to because of my build, so I never tried…now I really want to be able to do it!

Thanks for reading. <3 Currently working on getting my PT certification, you've been a big inspiration – thank you!

Just total nonsense though… who the hell can do 21 sets seriously for legs in one session. Quads, hammies, glutes, adductors. I have tried it, felt ill after the session and terrible for a few days. Splitting the legs to 2-3 times a week is by far the best strategy.

Racquel Johnsonrfrfrd October 8, 2023 - 12:28 pm

Thanks for the tip about the split squats, like you I also have a love/hate relationship with them. For the longest time I thought I was the only one who felt that way about them.
