Athlean-X is Wrong and Loredana Toma is Stupid Strong

Introduction

If you’re into fitness and strength training, chances are you’ve come across the YouTube channel of Athlean-X. While they offer informative content, there are sometimes disagreements in the fitness community when it comes to certain opinions. One example is their comments on ideal body fat levels for normal people and athletes. However, looking at the incredible strength of Loredana Toma, it’s safe to say that she proves them wrong.

Loredana Toma’s Power Clean and Push Press PR

Loredana Toma is an exceptional weightlifter who has been making waves in the fitness world. In a recent video, Coach ZT and Dylan attempted to best her Power Clean and Push Press Personal Record (PR), and it’s safe to say they were left in awe of her strength.

Power Clean and Push Press PR

In this challenge, Loredana Toma had set the bar high with her PR in Power Clean and Push Press. Coach ZT and Dylan were determined to match her strength and impressively, they did come close. However, it was evident that Loredana’s experience and training gave her the edge.

Athlean-X’s Opinion on Ideal Body Fat Levels

Athlean-X has a widely watched video where they discuss ideal body fat levels for normal people and athletes. While their opinion is respected in the fitness community, it’s not necessarily agreed upon by everyone.

Normal People and Ideal Body Fat Levels

According to Athlean-X, the ideal body fat level for normal people is around 8-15%. While this may be achievable for some, it’s important to note that body fat levels can vary depending on factors such as genetics, lifestyle, and goals. It’s always best to focus on overall health and well-being rather than obsessing over a specific number.

Athletes and Ideal Body Fat Levels

When it comes to athletes, Athlean-X recommends a body fat range of 6-12%. While low body fat can be advantageous in certain sports, such as bodybuilding or endurance events, it’s not always feasible or healthy for all athletes. Each sport has different demands, and body fat levels need to be considered in conjunction with performance, strength, and overall athletic ability.

Loredana Toma’s Strength Challenges the Ideas

Loredana Toma’s extraordinary strength challenges the notion that athletes need to have low body fat levels to excel. She is a prime example of how incredible strength can be achieved even with a higher body fat percentage. Her dedication, training, and technique have allowed her to become one of the strongest athletes in the world, proving that there’s more to athleticism than just body fat percentage.

Conclusion

While Athlean-X provides valuable fitness content, it’s important to approach opinions on ideal body fat levels with an open mind. Loredana Toma’s incredible strength serves as a reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness and athleticism. The most important thing is to focus on overall health, performance, and achieving personal goals rather than obsessing over a specific body fat percentage. So, let’s celebrate the strength of athletes like Loredana Toma and continue to strive for our own personal bests, regardless of body fat levels!

Jeff’s top 20 includes curls! Athletic training???? I give credit for instructions for face pulling including overhead pressing movement. Two ropes is much better than one. But he’s a PT, so corrective exercise is in his lane. Everything else, not as accurate.

If you made this into a podcast format I’d listen to especially for all the weightlifting ASMR (bar drop, foot slam etc.)

Im on a point where I’m sacrificing way too much for this sport and I started thinking fuck it bro let it be and live a nice life. But life without weightlifting is like a bicycle without wheels. You reminded me of this. Thank you guys greetings from beautiful but corrupted Greece

I think after 1.5mil subs, athleans target audience outgrew it's effectiveness. It needs to be dumbed down a bit. I think it's decent general information. But not for people past a certain experience level

Wow. Testu No Ai. You are so right at 7:15 when you say, "You know how freaky you would look if you 5'5" 180lbs, and 6% BF." One of the silly things that Jeff says in his video is that 7% body fat should only be described as 7% body fat and people shouldn't use other adjectives. Well, the thing is Jeff's sub 10% looks a lot less impressive than guys who've eaten a little and put on more muscle mass on their frame because not all 7% is the same.

I am around 7% year round or at least well under 10% without trying to cut (just eating and training normal, not like cutting for a fight); but you're totally right as I'm in a strength phase now it'd be counter productive to focus on staying that lean at the expense of strength gains. As Dan John says, keep the goal the goal (if you chase two rabbits you go home hungry).

That kind of laughing about "the other guys" 400+ Squat, pisses me off a little bit. That's just elitism and can be very discouraging for people how are not that strong yet (or never will be).
Dude weights around 165 and also has a 550 deadlift. I don't think you get there without knowing anything about strength training and "just having a good time" in the gym. Also, no one said that this is an "ideal, good" strength. He only tried to make the point, that a formerly very skinny guy can get pretty strong without bulking and cutting.

Man, I need this type of stuff in real life so much. There was a time, when I was working at an oil rig, and there were a little group of gym bros, that showed up regularly, and it was so much fun to chat with them. Now I live in the capital, but my gym sessions are lonely as hell. I miss that sense of community

So just some quick Googles. Comparing Toma's personal best (256kg total) to the 2022 North America open series 1 men's results, she would tie 1st for the 61kg category

In regards to the body fat debate. I've personally been an extremely lean college athlete in the 6-8% range, I've been a fluffy 230 lbs bloatlord in the 20-21% range. You need to find what your floor and ceiling are for effective performance. That's gonna depend on genetics and what you're training for. Mine personally is 10-18%, but I know people predisposed to being leaner that would likely drop those ranges by 2%, and some people who are pridisposed to holding body fat that would increase them by 2%. I think any sort of universal "standard" is really unrealistic and too nebulous to worry about.
